IN pursuance of the provisions of clause (3) of Article 348 of the Constitution of India, the Governor is pleased to order the publication of the following English translation of the Uttar Pradesh Dand Vidhi (Apraadhon Ka Shaman Aur Vichaaranon Ka Upshaman) (Sanshodhan) Adhyadesh, 2023 (Uttar Pradesh Adhyadesh Sankhya 2 of 2023) promulgated by the Governor. The Grih (Police) Anubhag-9 is administratively concerned with the said Ordinance.

AN
ORDINANCE
further to amend the Uttar Pradesh Criminal Law (Composition of Offences and Abatement of Trials) (Amendment) Act, 1979.
WHEREAS the State Legislature is not in session and the Governor is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary for her to take immediate action;
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 213 of the Constitution of India, the Governor is pleased to promulgate the following Ordinance:-
Short title 1. This Ordinance may be called the Uttar Pradesh Criminal Law (Composition of Offences and Abatement of Trials) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023.

2. In section 9 of the Uttar Pradesh Criminal Law (Composition of Offences section 9 of
and Abatement of Trials) (Amendment) Act, 1979, in sub-section (2), for the word and U.P. Act no. 35
figures "December 31, 2016" the word and figures "December 31, 2021" shall be of 1979
substituted.
