WHEREAS section 4 (4) (b) (ii) of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 (Act no. 18 of 2016) (hereinafter referred to as the "said Act") allows performing Aadhaar authentication on voluntary basis for such purpose, as the Central Government in consultation with the Authority and in the interest of the State, may prescribe;
AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government, in consultation with Unique Identification Authority of India (hereinafter referred to as the "Authority") has framed the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2020 (hereinafter referred to as the "said rules") whereunder the Department of the State Government desirous of utilizing Aadhaar authentication on voluntary basis can seek permission from the Authority by submitting a proposal thereon to the Central, Government for making a reference to the Authority;
AND, WHEREAS, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India vide Office Memorandum f. no. 13(4)/2020-EG-II (Vol-IV), dated 26th September, 2022 has conveyed the approval of the Authority to allow the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board to use Aadhaar for authentication of candidates in all stages of recruitment process, on voluntary basis, with prior concurrence of the State Government for the purpose of Identification in terms of rule 5 of the said rules read with section 4 (4) (b) (ii) of the said Act;
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers under rule 5 of the said rules, the Governor is pleased to allow the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board to seek Aadhaar authentication, on voluntary basis, at all stages of its recruitment process for the purpose of identification.
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board shall separately notify the methods of identification in case the candidate does not intend to authenticate using his/her Aadhaar.
