IN exercise of the powers under Section 21 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Act no. 2 of 1974), the Governor of Uttar Pradesh for the purposes of maintenance of Law and Order and peaceful conduct of General Election to Lok Sabha-2024, is pleased to appoint with effect from April 18, 2024 till the date of the Model Code of Conduct is enforced, all Gazetted Officers and Subordinate Gazetted Officers of all departments of the State Government and all officers holding posts carrying the Pay Level-6, Rs. 35400-112400 (Previously Pay Band-2 Rs. 9300-34800, Pay Grade Rs. 4200) and above in Local Authorities and Corporations or Bodies owned and controlled by the State Government, posted in the all districts of Uttar Pradesh and who are deployed for the conduct of elections, as Executive Magistrates to be known as Special Executive Magistrates and to confer on them all the powers of the Executive Magistrates as are conferrable under the said Code on such Executive Magistrates, to be exercised within the limits of respective districts in which they are for the time being posted.
