IN exercise of the powers conferred under section 62 and section 40 of the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996 (Act no. 27 of 1996) read with section 21 of the General Clauses Act, 1897 (Act no. 10 of 1897), the Governor is pleased to make the following rules with a view to amend the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2009 :
THE UTTAR PRADESH BUILDING AND OTHER CONSTRUCTION WORKERS (REGULATION OF EMPLOYMENT AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE) (SIXTH AMENDMENT) RULES, 2024 Short title,
1. (1) These rules may be called the Uttar Pradesh Building and other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) (Sixth Amendment) application and commencement
Rules, 2024;
(2) They shall apply to all buildings or other construction works relating to any establishment throughout the State of Uttar Pradesh except those in relation to which appropriate Government is the Central Government Under the Act;
(3) These rules shall come into force with effect from the date of their publication in the Gazette.
Amendment of
2. In the Uttar Pradesh Building and other Construction Workers (Regulation of rule 263
Employment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2009 for sub-rule (3) of rule 263 set out in Column-1 below, the sub-rule as set out in Column-2 shall be substituted, namely :-

(Existing sub-rule)
(3) The Board may with the prior concurrence of the State Government appoint an officer of the Government not below the rank of a Deputy Labour Commissioner as Secretary of the Board.
COLUMN-2 (Sub-rule as hereby substituted) (3) The Board may, with the prior concurrence of the State Government, appoint such an officer as the Secretary of the Board who shall be an officer of the rank of Special Secretary of the Indian Administrative Service.
