IN pursuance of the provisions of clause (3) of Article 348 of the Constitution of India, the Governor is pleased to order the publication of the following English translation of Notification no. 630 /LXXXI-4-2024 dated December 27, 2024:

WHEREAS the State Government is of the opinion that the area, details of which are given in the Schedule below, is of adequate ecological, faunal, floral, geomorphological, natural and zoological significance for the purpose of protecting, propagating and developing wildlife therein and its environment;

AND, WHEREAS, the Hon'ble Supreme Court vide order dated 23-09-2022 in Writ Petition (Civil) no. 13381/1984 (M.C. Mehta versus Union of India and Others) and the Hon'ble National Green Tribunal vide order dated 01-12-2023 in O.A. no. 529 of 2023 (Dr. Sharad Gupta versus Union of India and Others) has directed the State Government to include 14.5025 hectares of Government land in the Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary;

NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers under sub-section (1) of Section 18 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 (Act no.53 of 1972), the Governor is pleased to declare his intention to include Government land spread over 14.5025 hectares, details of which are given in the Schedule below in the area of Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary with the condition that the Eco-Sensitive Zone around the boundary of this additionally included area in the Sanctuary shall be kept zero kilometer.
