esa ykxw gksxkA 2 mRrj izns'k vlk/kkj.k xtV] 18 flrEcj] 2025 No. 1494/LXXXI-6&2025(1825635) Dated, Lucknow, September 18, 2025 WHEREAS the Parliament had enacted the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Act, 2024 (No.5 of 2024) which was notified on February 15, 2024;
AND, WHEREAS, the aim of this Amendment Act is to decriminalize the provisions of the original Act "the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974" (6 of 1974) to facilitate ease of doing business in the country and to streamline the process of nomination of Chairman of State Pollution Control Boards;
AND, WHEREAS, the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on August 11, 2025 and Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council on August 12, 2025 respectively has adopted the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Act, 2024 (No.5 of 2024) by passing resolution under clause(1) of Article 252 of the constitution read with clause(2) thereof;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Governor is hereby pleased to notify the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Act, 2024(No.5 of 2024) shall be applicable in the whole of State of Uttar Pradesh with effect from August 12, 2025.
