For implementation of the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy, 2022 (as amended, 2025) promulgated through Notification No. 73/2025/2201/77-6-2025- 1657900, dated October 17, 2025 of the Industrial Development Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh read with minutes of meeting dated October 10, 2025 of High Level Empowered Electric Vehicle Committee (HLEEVC) as approved by competent authority, and in the context of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Transport Department vide Government Order No. 420/30-4-2023, dated 18 March, 2023 for the benefit/facilitation of exemption in road tax and registration fee on electric vehicles under the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy, 2022, and for specific implementation of recommendation of HLEEVC in Item no. 2 of its above approved minutes, in partial amendment to Notification no. 21/2023/814/30-4-2023-8(19)-2018 TC dated June 12, 2023 issued to notify amendment to Rule 50 (Sub rule 5 and 6) of U.P. Motor Vehicle Rules, 1998 (as amended in 2023), it is hereby specified that 100% exemption in registration fee will be admissible to eligible electric vehicles of different categories, as under:- (i) Electric Vehicles (EVs) purchased and registered in the State of Uttar Pradesh within three years from the date of notification of the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy, 2022, i.e. from October 14, 2022 to October 13, 2025.
(ii) Electric Vehicles (EVs) purchased and registered in the State of Uttar Pradesh during the fourth and fifth years of the effective period of the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy, 2022 notified on October 14, 2022, i.e. from October 14, 2025 to October 13, 2027.
Explanation :
For the purpose of the above exemption, electric vehicles means only pure electric vehicles (Pure EVs).
