IN pursuance of the provisions of clause (3) of Article 348 of the Constitution of India, the Governor is pleased to order the publication of the following English translation of the King George Chikitsa Vishwavidyalay, Uttar Pradesh (Sanshodhan) Adhiniyam, 2025 (Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam Sankhya 2 of 2026) as passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature and assented to by the Governor on January 1, 2026. The Chikitsa Shiksha Anubhag-2 is administratively concerned with the said Adhiniyam.
THE KING GEORGE'S MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, UTTAR PRADESH (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2025 (U.P. Act no. 2 of 2026)

further to amend the King George's Medical University, Uttar Pradesh Act, 2002.
IT IS HEREBY enacted in the Seventy-sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows :–
Short title 1. This Act may be called the King George's Medical University, Uttar Pradesh (Amendment) Act, 2025.
mRrj izns'k vlk/kkj.k xtV] 2 tuojh] 2026 3 Amendment2. In Section 24 of the King George's Medical University, Uttar Pradesh Act,
of Section 24 of 2002, after sub-section (1), the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely:–
U.P. Act no. 8 of
2002
"(1A) In addition to the members specified in the above sub-section (1), the
Executive Council shall also include one member from amongst the senior most
Professors of the University belonging to the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes
and one member from amongst the senior most Professors of the University belonging
to other backward classes of citizen, to be nominated by the State Government, on
rotation basis, in consultation with the Vice-Chancellor."

STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASON
The King George's Medical University, Uttar Pradesh Act, 2002 (U.P. Act no. 8 of 2002) has been enacted to provide for the establishment of a Medical University by transfer of King George's Medical College and the Gandhi Memorial and Associated Hospitals from the University of Lucknow to the said Medical University and for matters connected therewith.
To ensure the representation of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes in the Executive Council to protect and monitor the constitutional rights of reserved categories in King George's Medical University, Uttar Pradesh, it has been decided to amend Section 24 of the aforesaid Act.
The King George's Medical University, Uttar Pradesh (Amendment) Bill, 2025 is introduced accordingly.
