IN pursuance of the provisions of clause (3) of Article 348 of the Constitution of India, the Governor is pleased to order the publication of the following English translation of the Uttar Pradesh Lok Seva (Adhikaran) (Sanshodhan) Adhyadesh, 2026 (Uttar Pradesh Adhyadesh Sankhya 5 of 2026) promulgated by the Governor. Nyay Anubhag-8 (Lekha) is administratively concerned with the said Ordinance.
THE UTTAR PRADESH PUBLIC SERVICES (TRIBUNALS) (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE, 2026 (U.P. ORDINANCE NO. 5 OF 2026) [Promulgated by the Governor in the Seventy-seventh Year of the Republic of India] AN ORDINANCE further to amend the Uttar Pradesh Public Services (Tribunals) Act, 1976.
WHEREAS the State Legislature is not in session and the Governor is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary for him to take immediate action;
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 213 of the Constitution of India, the Governor is pleased to promulgate the following Ordinance :-
Short title and
1. (1) This Ordinance may be called the Uttar Pradesh Public Services (Tribunals) commencement
(Amendment) Ordinance, 2026.
(2) It shall come into force with effect from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Amendment of
2. In sub-section (8) of the Section 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Public Services Section 3 of U.P.
(Tribunals) Act, 1976,-
Act no. 17 of
(a) for the proviso, the following proviso shall be substituted, namely :-
1976 mRrj izns'k vlk/kkj.k xtV] 25 ekpZ] 2026 3 "Provided that no Chairman, Vice-Chairman or Member shall hold office as such
after he has attained,-
(a) in the case of Chairman, the age of sixty-seven years; and
(b) in the case of Vice-Chairman or Member, the age of sixty-five years.";
(b) after sub-section (8-c), the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely :-
"(8-d) The provisions of sub-section (8) as amended by the Uttar Pradesh Public
Services (Tribunals) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026 shall apply also to the Chairman,
Vice-Chairman and Members holding office on the commencement of the said Ordinance.".
