Dated Lucknow, July 6, 2026
WHEREAS Nagar Palika Parishad Jalalabad in district Shahjahanpur was constituted under Clause (a) of sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1916 (U.P. Act no. II of 1916) by vide notification no.1526/XI-2–94(1)/74, dated; June 23, 1975;
AND WHEREAS, the State Government has decided to change the name of town Jalalabad, situated within the territorial jurisdiction of Nagar Palika Parishad Jalalabad in district Shahjahanpur, to Parashurampuri;
AND WHEREAS, the Government of India vide its letter no. 11/40/2025-M&G, dated August 19, 2025 has accorded its no objection to the proposed change of the name of the town Jalalabad, district Shahjahanpur, to Parashurampuri district Shahjahanpur;
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers under Clause (2) of Article 243-Q of the Constitution read with sub-section (2) of Section 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1916 (U.P. Act no. II of 1916) and sub-section (2) of Section 6 of the Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code, 2006 (U.P. Act no. 8 of 2012), the Governor is pleased to change the name of town Jalalabad to Parashurampuri located in Nagar Palika Parishad Jalalabad in district Shahjahanpur with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
2. The Governor is further pleased to direct that nothing in this notification shall affect any legal proceeding already commenced or pending in any Court of Law.
