The Government of Goa in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 20(1) of Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 (Central Act 2 of 1974), is pleased to grant powers of Executive Magistrate to the below mentioned Officers within the jurisdiction of North Goa District, with immediate effect till the period of lockdown, in view of COVID-19 situation:-

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the Goa Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1988 (Goa Act 20 of 1989), the Government of Goa on being satisfied that in the public interest it is necessary and expedient so to do, hereby prohibits strike in the service or employment in units manufacturing or distributing pharmaceutical products or other related ancillary activities in the State of Goa, with immediate effect.

In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (a) (v) of sub-section (1) of Section 2 of the Goa Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1988 (Goa Act 20 of 1989), the Government of Goa, being of the opinion that strikes in the service or employment in units manufacturing or distributing pharmaceutical products or other related ancillary activities would prejudicially affect the maintenance supplies and services necessary for the life of the community in the State of Goa, hereby declares such service or employment to be an essential service for the purposes of the said Act, with immediate effect.
