Notification
Whereas, the Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Panaji Goa vide report read at above has submitted that, there are various development works going on in Panaji city and surrounding area under the Smart City Project. The works include laying of sewerage pipe line, development of smart roads and beautification work. The work are being carried out by various agencies such as PWD, GSUDA and WRD etc.
And whereas, it has further submitted that, the above mentioned agencies have obtained permissions for road closures and diversions which has been issued to them from the District Magistrate. Further, as per requirements and scope of work, many stretches of road have been partially closed leaving space for movement of vehicles of residents and business establishments. However it is noted that soil structure of area in and around Panaji is sandy and loose in nature, therefore the soil tends to cave in and cavity is developed where any digging work is undertaken. The situation is mostly observed around Tonca and near printing press area and due to the loose composition of soil, incidents of heavy vehicles getting stuck inside the trenches have been reported and recently incidents of vehicles getting stuck inside dug up trenches have been reported near Expert Pharmacy, one near Tonca STP and one near printing press junction.
And whereas, it has further requested this office to issue order, to avoid such incidents in future, to the concerned agencies to carrying out various development works in and around Panaji City to strictly restrict the movement of heavy vehicles only on 18 June road/AB road in Panaji city between 22.00 hrs. to 07.00 hrs. only. The contractors engaged in the work should also be instructed to seek necessary assistance from traffic cell Panaji during movement of any heavy vehicles around area which is susceptible to getting caved in, in order to prevent such incidents.
