The Goa Motor Vehicles Tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026

Ordinance No. 5 of 2026

Promulgated by the Governor of Goa in the Seventy-seventh Year of the Republic of India.

An Ordinance further to amend the Goa Motor Vehicles Tax Act, 1974 (Act No. 8 of 1974).

I, Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Governor of Goa, in the Seventy-seventh Year of the Republic of India, promulgate, "The Goa Motor Vehicle Tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026".

Whereas the Legislative Assembly of the State of Goa is not in session and I am satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary for me to take immediate action.

Now, therefore in exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (1) of Article 213 of the Constitution of India, I am pleased to promulgate the following Ordinance, namely:—

1. Short title and commencement.— (1) This Ordinance may be called the Goa Motor Vehicles Tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026. (2) It shall come into force at once. Amendment of Schedule.— In the Schedule appended to the Goa Motor Vehicles Tax Act, 1974 (Act No. 8 of 1974), in PART 'B', in item (B), for the existing entry against serial No. (5), the following entry shall be substituted, namely:—

"(5) Construction equipment vehicles as defined under rule 2 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989

1 % of the cost of the vehicle as annual tax or 9% of the cost of vehicle as one time tax at the time of registration."
