Order

No. 10/1043/2026-DMA/Appointment of Administrator/686 Date : 26-May-2026

Whereas, the General Elections to the Margao, Mormugao and Mapusa Municipal Councils is to be held in the month of May, 2026.

And whereas, the term of the above said Municipal Councils is expiring on 26/05/2026.

And whereas, the Government has approved the proposal of the State Election Commission for appointing the Administrators to above Municipal Councils, in view of initiating the process of conducting the General Elections to the above Municipal Councils by the State Election Commission in accordance with the Goa Municipalities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026 (Ordinance No. 4 of 2026).

And whereas, in view of above, a situation has arisen whereby the administration of the said three Municipal Councils cannot be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Goa Municipalities Act, 1968 (Act 7 of 1969).

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (d) of sub-section (1) of Section 298 of the Goa Municipalities Act, 1968 (Act 7 of 1969), the Government of Goa hereby appoints the Officer specified in Column (2) of the Table below as the Municipal Administrators of the Municipal Councils specified against the corresponding entries in Column (3) of the Table below with effect from dates mentioned in Column (4), in addition to his own duties until further orders.
