In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948), the Central Government hereby appoints Shri Pradip Hazarika an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (AM SCS 87), as the Director of Census Operations, to supervise the taking of census within the State of Assam, for the 2001 census.
