The Central Govt. in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 1 of the Metro Railway Act, 1978 (33 of 1978) and after consultation with the concerned State Govt. has vide notification No. S. O. 2625(E), dt. the 16 October, 2009 declared the metropolitan areas to which the provisions of the said Act shall extend.
