The Cyclonic Storm ‘Fengal’ made landfall near Puducherry on 30th November, 2024 brought relentless rainfall and subsequent release of water from Sathanur and Veedur dams caused flooding between 30-11-2024 and 04-12-2024, which resulted in devastating damages. Thus, the Puducherry, Karaikal and Yanam regions of the Union territory of Puducherry were declared as Natural Calamity affected areas.
